DR. TONY LAMAIR BURKS II is an award-winning education expert who helps individuals and organizations as a thought partner. His ideas and insights help learners and leaders think differently, take different actions, and have different breakthrough results.
A Fulbrighter, he became an elementary school principal when he was 27 and he was the founding principal-director of The Early College at Guilford, North Carolina’s first early college high school. During his tenure with the San Diego Unified School District, he held several cabinet level positions including Executive Director of Atypical and Charter Schools where he had responsibilities for California’s second largest portfolio of public charter schools. A graduate of Morehouse College, Trevecca Nazarene University, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, he is among five educators featured in Walking the Equity Talk: A Guide for Culturally Courageous Leadership in School Communities by Dr. John Robert Browne II. He was the Superintendent-in-Residence from 2011 to 2015 with the National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST) and a fellow of the British-American Project. A gifted storyWeaver, workshop facilitator, and keynote speaker, he has written six books and contributed to four. His book, Bought Wisdom: Tales of Living and Learning, is an interactive leadership memoir that invites you to tell your own stories. He currently serves as the Chief Learning Officer of LEADright where he coaches and trains leaders for excellence. |
